Single Mothers
Children from single-mother households, compared to children of two-parent
households where the father is present, are more likely to go to prison by
20 times, to commit suicide by 5 times, to have behavioral problems by 20
times, to become rapists by 14 times, to run away by 32 times, to abuse chemical
substances by 10 times, to drop out of high school by 9 times, to be seriously
abused by 33 times, to be fatally abused by 73 times, to be one tenth as
likely to get A's in school, and to [per Lenore Weitzman] have a 72% lower
standard of living.
FYI—For any of those confused ladies who think that being a single
mother is an option which is an acceptable alternative to a two parent
home.

Missing Parents
Take a look at a picture of the kids who were walking the halls of a US high school in the 1950s, and then check the incredibly high level of education they were getting in their school. Now compare that with the punctured, tattooed, kids of today, dressed like ghetto prostitutes and pimps, and the abysmal level of education that they receive.
Where are the parents? They don't care! As long as their child fits in with what all the other kids are doing, it's just fine. They have zero standards of their own. In fact, if their child gets in trouble at school, the parents are mad at the school, not the kid.
Nobody, other than the media, is parenting the children today. It's too much trouble for two working parents, or a single mom who doesn't even have a father living at home to back her up when she needs to discipline that tough to manage child.
Perhaps you can take comfort in the fact that we are currently at the pinnacle of what is left of our history, because it is only going to get worse from here. Parents now let computer games, the Internet, and the TV train up their kids in the way they will go, while trying to avoid getting in the way of that destructive process.
Awesome! Just forget all those old fashioned ways, and let's just keep doing what we know fails.
